The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) today released final versions of three storage specifications that will enable stronger data protection, help organizations comply with increasingly tough regulations and help protect important information from loss and theft. The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse estimates that in the United States alone, 251,154,519 records have been lost or stolen since January 2005*. Some 12,000 notebook PCs are lost or stolen in airports in the United States, with only 33 percent recovered by owners. Web Site : Trusted Computing

Mobile Trusted Module (MTM) Is Now One Step Closer To Reality |

As you may remember, the Trusted Computing Group published the Mobile Trusted Module, or MTM, specification during the iX-Conference 2007 in Singapore. Since then there has not been much visible action outside of TCG, but inside the organization, the “engine” never stopped. In fact, “under the hood” the engine has been running at full speed.  A number of developer tools and resources for the Trusted Platform Module now are available from the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), an industry organization that evelops specifications including that of the Trusted Platform Module to enable computing security across evices and the enterprise.  Trust2008, a conference creating a scientific and networking platform covering trust in information technology (IT) systems is intended to bridge the gap between international research groups and projects. It will address: scientific challenges; application scenarios; testing evaluation and verification and hardware/software solutions.  Even Government PCs aren't secure against Hacking Attacks. Striking headlines attracted attention in the media in the last days: German Government PCs hacked.German news magazine Der Spiegel claims that Chinese hackers had been able to infect German government computers with spyware by order of Chinese government.
The German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution already spoke out a warning for increasing industrial espionage. This isn't surprising in times, where digital data plays an important role within political and economical relations.

TPM Manager Version 0.4 released |

 TPM Manager Version 0.4 is published on SourceForge. The new version includes some bug fixes and a new feature. TPM Manager is an open source application providing an easy to use graphical user interface to manage and configure a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) that is developed by Sirrix AG and Ruhr-University Bochum. The TPM Manager can be used on PC systems equipped with a TPM that is supported by the Linux kernel. Users of such systems can now easily check the capabilities of their TPM, read out public keys and certificates, or change the TPM settings like, e.g., disable or activate it. |

 Sirrix AG publishes new release of the TCG-extended bootloader coming with Xen support and beautified output of measurements.
Version 1.1.0 of TrustedGRUB has been released and can be downloaded at Sourceforge. New features include the correct measurement of arbitrary multiboot kernels, e.g., Xen. Additionally, the build-options and the SHA1-output have been extended and more beautified. |
